Block switches appear on the Princess Peach's Castle stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee. When activated by attacking or stepping on them, they will create two platforms and up to two ! Blocks. Activating a Block Switch causes almost a half-second of hitlag. If a red block switch is pressed, one block will appear above the castle. If a blue block switch is pressed, two will appear, one on either side of the castle's tower. Lastly, if a green block switch is pressed, two will appear, both on the left side of the stage, directly next to each other, acting as a new platform. The position of the two platforms created also varies by the color of the block switch pressed.

Brawl which move platforms, though these switches must be struck by an attack, and do not disappear.
