The 1972–73 Division 2 season was the second tier of ice hockey in Sweden for 1972–73. The league consisted of 82 teams, divided into eight geographical groups of 10-12 teams apiece. The eight group winners continued to a promotion/relegation qualifier, which also involved the two fourth-placed teams from each of the Swedish Division I's qualification rounds (the fifth-placed squads were relegated directly).
