Whilst here he played for the Kalamazoo Wings, the Flint Generals, the Roanoke Valley Vipers and the Quad City Mallards all of the UHL. Whilst playing for the Mallards, Starke was a line-mate of Luke Stauffacher. Both went on to sign for the Manchester Phoenix in the United Kingdom, playing at EIHL level. Starke's final season in professional hockey was a positive one, and he was widely recognised by Phoenix fans as being one of the team's main contributors with his intelligent play and high work rate. In the summer of 2008, Starke confirmed his retirement from the playing side of the game.
