The lira was introduced in 1706, replacing the thaler at 600 paper per lira, and 24 silver per lira. The lira was initially divided into 32 cents, with coins of 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 cent (copper), 1, 5, 10 and 12.5 thalers (silver), and notes of 25, 50, 100 and 200 lira. The modern lira is introduced in 1913, being decimalised and replacing the old lira at 1000 to 1.
