| - The gravity well is another word for the gravitational pull. When the Coalition Fleet arrived at Stroggos, they were held helpless in orbit by a device known as the gravity Well - a huge machine that could enhance the planet's gravity field. The device was guarded by a powerful guardian - the Black Widow. A marine known as Stepchild managed to fight through the Strogg defenses and destroy the Gravity Well with an anti-mater bomb. This allowed the Fleet to break free from orbit and caused multiple secondary explosions throughout Stroggos.
- A gravity well was the pull of gravity that a large body in space—such as a planet— exerted. Gravity wells could also be created artificially: thanks to a gravity well projector, it was possible to generate an "interdiction field" capable of disabling a starship's hyperspace maneuvers.

- Gravity Well is a Plasmid introduced for the Minerva's Den DLC for BioShock 2. It allows Subject Sigma to throw a superdense polyp which then bursts after a moment (upon impact if it hits an enemy), sucking in nearby objects, corpses and enemies into a swirling vortex of destruction.
- Gravity Well, known as Bug Hole (バグホール Bagu Hōru?) in Japan, is the Special Weapon that X obtains from Gravity Beetle in Mega Man X3. When equipped with this weapon, X releases a floating ball in front of him that creates a high-gravity zone. Surrounding enemies are crushed by the gravitational force of the ball. When charged, X releases a Gravity Well upward, only this time with a black hole generated. Once in the sky, it lifts enemies up towards it. Gravity Well is Blast Hornet's weakness; he is the only boss that takes damage from this weapon.

If seen from a two-dimensional perspective, the "well" would show as an indentation in an otherwise straight line. Gravity wells can range in intensity depending on the object. In 2294, the USS Jenolan was caught in a Dyson Sphere's gravity well, crashing on the surface. A large device, it is capable of projecting a powerful cone of artificially high gravity into space, used by the Strogg to hold enemy ships in orbit above the planet. Its purpose in doing so is simple: Prevent enemy ships from escaping, neutralize their threat (once the ground invasion has been terminated) and harvest their occupants and/or technologies.

- When the spell is used, it creates a medium-sized black dome with lightning traveling the surface and small stalagmites on the dome's perimeter. All creatures within the dome are obscured from view, and any enemies trapped within are crushed with intense gravitational pressure. Gravity Well first appeared in Tales of Symphonia. While the spell is in effect, all enemies within its area are immobilized, regardless of their status, providing one of the only means of subduing an enemy that has entered Over Limit mode.
