Werner Kienitz (3 June 1885 – 31 December 1959) was a highly decorated General der Infanterie in the Wehrmacht during World War II who commanded the XVII. Corps. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Werner Kienitz was captured in 1945 by British troops and was released in 1948.
