Thus far, we have been dwelling on the rise and fall of Roman and Islamic Civilization. Together they were at the center of historical activity. It is not as if there weren't other things going on. Chinese civilization was already in full swing, and the Incas and the Mayans were making their mark in a world not yet known. But now both societies were at a crossroads in history. And others were wanting in on the action. Nothing new, but now there was no stopping them. From the north came the Norman. And from the east came Hungarians and Seljuk Turks.
