King Claudas was a king waging war with Kings Ban and Bors. For their help against the rebellious barons in the North, Arthur swears to assist them in their war against Claudas. Arthur is unable to send Ban and Bors reinforcements to deal with Claudas in time. Bors dies fighting against Claudas, who takes in his sons Bors the Younger and Lionel and has them raised as prisoners in his court. When Ban dies, his son Lancelot is swept away by the Lady of the Lake to be raised in her underwater kingdom. It is possible that Claudas is based one of the historic Frankish kings, probably Clovis.
