Before Zarah's birth, her mother's pregnancies had all resulted in stillbirths, with two daughters, and two sons. Mere days after she was born, Zarah was taken to the capital city of Ambaril for her confirmation ceremony, and then titled Duchess under the royal name of Viren. For much of her childhood, Tharand Viren directly taught Zarah and consulted with scholars for advice on his daughters early education, providing the very best learning tools for his kins survival, which later paid off. By the age of six, Zarah could read and write three different languages, showing a great amount of potential in court. Tharand - the proud Father that he was - often boasted of Zarah's abilities, and lovingly dotted on her. However, despite his affection for his daughter, Tharand was disappointed that his marriage had produced no sons. By the time she was nine years old, it became apparent that Tharand and Airal could have no more children. Rumors started spreading like wild fire. There was talk that Tharand would set aside his wife and daughter, but through mysterious - or rather convenient - circumstances, Tharand died before he could see his divorce through, leaving his wife and daughter to hold the hereditary title of Duchess over their provenance. Tharand's death was the first link in a series of chain events, sparking a major rebellion against the crown that Airal Viren lead herself. The rebellion lasted in episodes through a span of three years until the royal family admited defeat and were sent into a custody exile. Airal Viren spent little time in working to establish herself and her daughter on the throne, then marred the first season of her reign by ordering the execution of her brother and his wife - sending her neice into exile. Zarah Viren was there to watch the public displayed massacre of her Mother's family, explained by Airal that, 'It was how they dealt with weakness.' The cruel display of power was the first time that Zarah Viren learned how to harden her heart.Family
