| - A Spellstone is a colored orb smaller than a Hearthstone, roughly the size of a shooter marble. The party first found these on the Deathknight "Shadow-Mantled Servant of Secrets Unknowable". Its color tends to bely the spell it contains, and as of yet they only seem to exist for sorcery, not for necromancy. They are only traditionally spherical and could be reshaped into bands or various other shapes by a skilled occult Craftsman. Spellstones could certainly be integrated with Essence Batteries or other magical gems, forming a single artifact, though the difference would be cosmetic.
- A Spellstone is a Warlock conjured item. Originally a pseudo-relic that occupied the off-hand slot and then later the wand slot which allowed warlocks to dispel all magical debuffs on themselves and increasing spell critical strike rating, Spellstones are now much like Wizard Oils that are applied to the Warlock's melee weapon after the Echoes of Doom Patch. A single use of Create Spellstone (which uses a Soul Shard as a reagent) will create a Spellstone with 5 charges. It should be noted that unlike the warlock's Healthstones and Soulstones, Spellstones are not considered conjured items and thus do not disappear after being logged out for more than 15 minutes. Each charge can be only used on the weapon of the warlock who created it, and has the following effects:

* Increase periodic spell damage by 1%
* Improve spell haste rating by 10/20/30/40/50/60.
These artifacts were mass-produced during the First Age, most sorcerers owning several containing their favorite spells. Easier to make, though less flexible than Sorcery-Capturing Cords, these allow a sorcerer to cast their spells ahead of time and release them later. They were found set in all kinds of things, most popularly weapons, but also armor, accompanying automata, or the caster's body itself. These were a popular accompaniment to skin-mount amulets in the First Age, particularly since they advertised the bearer's wizardly prowess. Use of a spellstone requires casting the spell, directing the Essence into the stone for storage. Essence spent on the spell regenerates normally, except for a single mote which remains committed until the spell is released. Releasing the spell requires a speed 5 action, DV -1, and costs Willpower equal to the spells Circle (but no Essence). Only someone capable of casting the spell can release it. If a sorcerer comes across a spellstone to a spell they do not know, they may learn the spell from the spellstone as per a spellbook, as the exacting Essence flows of the artifact teach the nature of the spell far better than mere words and pictures. Some First Age sorcerers preferred to learn new spell this way, claiming it was more "natural." Crafting a spellstone typically requires reagents linked to the spell's function, along with one reagent associated with the storage of energy; for example, Blood of Boiling Oil could be made from the blood of a powerful Fire Elemental, bottled wrath, and a Fair Folk heart. Spellstones are an artifact rated on dot higher than their Circle. Spellstones could certainly be integrated with Essence Batteries or other magical gems, forming a single artifact, though the difference would be cosmetic.
