Artifact ••••, commit 6 (universal) This pair of black wristbands, made of a curious alloy of black jade with flecks of Battles-aligned starmetal, is shaped like a pair of hands gripping the wearer’s wrists. Each opens with cleverly concealed hinges and latches so that it looks seamless when snapped shut. The bands have definite orientation: one is for the dominant hand, the other for the non-dominant, and neither will close if placed on the wrong wrist. (For ambidextrous users, the “dominant” band goes on the right hand.)

  • Artifact ••••, commit 6 (universal) This pair of black wristbands, made of a curious alloy of black jade with flecks of Battles-aligned starmetal, is shaped like a pair of hands gripping the wearer’s wrists. Each opens with cleverly concealed hinges and latches so that it looks seamless when snapped shut. The bands have definite orientation: one is for the dominant hand, the other for the non-dominant, and neither will close if placed on the wrong wrist. (For ambidextrous users, the “dominant” band goes on the right hand.) The top of the dominant-hand band bears an inset ring resembling a hearthstone socket, but 2it will not take a hearthstone. Instead, any handheld weapon, from a mundane dagger to a reaver daiklaive or grimcleaver, can be inserted point-first into the socket. It appears to warp in order to slide hilt-deep into the wristband, stored safely in Elsewhere with only the very tip of the pommel poking through. Sheathing a weapon this way costs 2 motes. While a weapon is sheathed in the wristband, faint red motes drift around the user’s hands. Any object he picks up to use as a weapon spontaneously sharpens or hardens as the weapon’s least god guides the weapon’s trapped Essence over it, shaping it to his own image. Mechanically, this means that the character’s improvised weapons may use the statistics of the sheathed blade instead of their own. Objects so improved are also protected: they will not be damaged unless the bearer wills it. Special qualities and Essence powers of sheathed weapons are usable at the ST’s discretion. They should be allowed when they make sense (a sheathed infinite jade chakram’s ability would usually apply; a bloodspike harness’ usually wouldn’t) or with an appropriate stunt.
