  • Christianity is the religion of the majority of Belizeans, 80% of the people of Belize are Christians. Roman Catholicism is the most popular Christian denomination, followed by 49.5% of the population, while 29% follow Protestantism. There are some ten thousand Mennonites in Belize, comprising 4.1% of the population. Hinduism is chiefly practiced by the 3% of the population who can trace their ancestors to India, whereas Islam is mainly followed by immigrants from the Middle East, with some local converts. About 0.35% of the people of Belize are Buddhists.
