Hood's other three races came during the 1955 season, when he finished a solid 75th in the year end point standings. The year started off rough, though, for the driver. Early transmission woes displaced him to 41st at Daytona Beach and then an early engine issue left him 23rd at LeHi. But Hood recovered well in his final career race, earning a career-best 13th place run in a later LeHi event.
