On June 14, the NHC gave an area of disturbed weather, 90 miles ESE of Cancun, a medium chance of development into a Tropical Storm or a Hurricane. Tropical Depression one became Tropical Storm Alessa, courtesy of Hurricane Hunters Recon Aircraft on the 16th. Alessa was heading towards Cancun, as it reached peak intensity as a low end Category 1 Hurricane on the 17th. Alessa then became stationary over a 12 hour period. Alessa missed Cancun as a Tropical Storm. Alessa then encountered wind shear and cooler SSTs as of June 19. Alessa dissipated before making a landfall in New Orleans, Louisiana as a remnant Low. Alessa's remnants killed a total of 8 people. 3 in Cancun, 5 in Biloxi.
