Nettlebud was a sturdy female hedgehog, the daughter of Skyspike and Beechtipp. When Nettlebud was little, she was captured by raiding vermin, finally ending up enslaved on Marlfox Island. Nettlebud grew up to possess prodigious strength, much like her father. When she and her fellow prisoners were freed by Redwallers and revolted, she hunted down and killed the slave captain Ullig. When the Marlfox King Mokkan escaped and sailed out of arrow range, Nettlebud was the only one who could reach him, throwing a chain and knocking him overboard into a pike shoal.
