Multi-purpose Shipboard Robots, also known as "buzzers", are small, wheeled robots about the size of a Human fist which are often seen moving rapidly through the Andromeda Ascendant's corridors. They usually deliver small packages of information or microparts and micromachines, conduct repairs in small cramped areas that are impossible for General Utility Androids to reach, and also perform routine maintenance and sanitation duties, as well as a wide variety of other tasks. Although they can have many functions, it is just an example of the utility that is over-engineered into them, and they are usually used for ferrying messages.

There are 2 types of the Bots, the ground-based bot and a smaller, flying bot of similar design and purpose. Most of the small flying robots are much smaller than a fist, and move very quickly, so they are not often seen. Seamus Harper calls them "buzzers", because of the sound they make when they fly by.
