| - A Dowchit is a bird that appears in Might and Magic: The Dreamwright and Might and Magic: The Shadowsmith. It was gray, not very large, and had a band of white across the underside of its wings. Dowchits were common in the east and north, and less common in the south. The members of the Green Moth Society were closely allied to the dowchits, and could use them as scouts. They would send their consciousness into a nearby bird, and explore the land using its eyes and wings. During their flight, their body seemed to slip into a fever dream, and they would toss around with their eyes roving in their sockets as they muttered to themselves. Just before she passed away, Pandandoleet taught Hitch how to use the birds, and as he soared around in the sky, he spotted a large force of Dubiel's soldiers approaching. He managed to make his escape before they reached the valley. When Hitch, Diligence and Jassad Attqua were separated from the caravan after their trip through the wormhole, Hitch used the birds to figure out where they should go. This allowed Pomponderant to find out where they were, and he contacted them using the Dreamwright device. As Jassad Attqua prepared to raise his golden ship from the lake it had sunk in, Hitch used a dowchit to explore the area. He spotted a large camp of Dubiel's soldiers on the other side, using winchlike devices to search the lake. He also saw a skulking figure in black, approaching Jassad from behind with obvious ill intent. He realized that the figure was Dubiel himself. He returned to his body just in time to save Jassad by attacking Dubiel with the Staff of Blue Light.
