She served in the Atlantic Ocean and, at war's end, returned home proudly with three battle stars to her credit. Moreno was laid down as AT-87, on 26 June 1942, by the Cramp Shipbuilding Co., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; launched on 9 July 1942; sponsored by Mrs. Charles H. Kramb; and commissioned on 30 November 1942, Lt. (jg.) Victor H. Kyllberg in command.
