Far to the north of Arminia, Elterlein, near the small town of Roald, nestled among snow and ice lies the backbone of what used to be a massive structure, the purpose of which is not known, but the stone pillars and floor form the skeleton of a grand hallway. Currently only a series of six arches are standing, though another five can be seen toppled into the snow.

  • Far to the north of Arminia, Elterlein, near the small town of Roald, nestled among snow and ice lies the backbone of what used to be a massive structure, the purpose of which is not known, but the stone pillars and floor form the skeleton of a grand hallway. Currently only a series of six arches are standing, though another five can be seen toppled into the snow. Due to the positioning of the building and how the wind weaves around the Adelhelm Range, on blustery days any traveling nearby might be able to hear an unnerving keening sound, almost resembling a ghostly howl, that would echo and go on for miles. Once begun, the sound usually lasts hours and never changes in pitch or nature, making for quite a teeth-grinding journey. It is heavily speculated that the structure was once the abode of one of the Archdukes of the few families who rose against the First Empire of Elterlein during the Great Rebellion (2E 2377). After the War of Widows Lament (3E 119 - 124), many of these structures were subsequently destroyed and much of the records pertaining to their construction were destroyed as well.
