The 2004 Siemens 300 was a Nextel Cup event held at New Hampshire International Speedway on July 25, 2004. Kurt Busch led the most laps and didn't let a late charge by Jeff Gordon stop him from claiming victory, holding off Gordon by six-tenths of a second. Most of the attention, however, was directed at Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Earnhardt had been seriously burned in a GT race at Sonoma during a recent off week. Earnhardt started the race, turned the wheel over to Martin Truex, Jr and then watched his car struggle to 31st. As a result, Jimmie Johnson (11th) was able to expand his lead on Earnhardt, Jr. to expand to 165 points. Stats
