| - Verona is a fictional city and is the main location set in The Devil's Playground scenario for the Genesis Chronicles. In the game, it is situated along the coast where main black market shipments have been sent to be delivered to possible buyers. It had once been one of the main tourist destinations in Italy, owing to its artistic heritage, several annual fairs, shows, and operas, such as the lyrical season in the Arena, the ancient amphitheater built by the Romans. Now, it is a location of war and infection. The city is besieged by B.O.W. wars and Leon is sent to retrieve a government contact who had attempted to try and make peace among the chaos, but his connection was lost. The city is overrun by undead and monsters upon Leon's arrival and most of the streets have been barricaded in a futile attempt by the Italian Police to quarantine the area. The city features ancient architecture, statues, and even an enormous cemetery. Most of it can be explored throughout the scenario. More importantly, there is a massive shoreline where various cargo ships are stationed for transport and also the location for the conclusion of the scenario. Because the game does not clarify what becomes of the city after the end of the scenario, it isn't known what its fate is by the end. However, it is highly likely that it would have been destroyed by the Italian Government to contain the virus.
