The Aero Slicers were the Toa Tools of choice used by Toa Metru Matau. He received them when he became a Toa in The Great Temple. When he put them on his back, he could use them as wings. He could also wield them as swords, by which he could channel his elemental power over Air. They were mutated into the Fang Blades when Matau turned into a Toa Hordika, but were changed back when he became a Toa Metru again. When Matau became a Turaga, the Aero Slicers were transformed into the Kau Kau Staff.
