- With the discovery that the second Death Star was protected by an energy shield generated from the forest moon of Endor, Alliance High Command realized that they needed a highly skilled strike team to penetrate the Imperial defenses and neutralize the facility. General Crix Madine devised a plan to insert a commando force onto Endor using a stolen Imperial shuttle, Tydirium, and destroy the Imperial base on the surface.
- The Endor strike team, designated Strike Team Alpha, was the strike team deployed on the forest moon of Endor by the Alliance to Restore the Republic in 4 ABY, in order to destroy the Imperial Shield Generator which was projecting a shield protecting the second Death Star. If the shield genertator was destroyed, the battlestation could be destroyed by a group of starfighters which would destroy the main reactor, thus allowing it to be destroyed from the inside.

- The Endor strike team, designated Strike Team Alpha, was the strike team deployed on the forest moon of Endor by the Alliance to Restore the Republic in 4 ABY, in order to destroy the Imperial Shield Generator which was projecting a shield protecting the second Death Star. If the shield genertator was destroyed, the battlestation could be destroyed by a group of starfighters which would destroy the main reactor, thus allowing it to be destroyed from the inside. The group destroyed the shield generator, with the help of the native Ewoks, and allowed Lando Calrissian, Nien Numb, and Wedge Antilles to destroy the main reactor, destroying the Death Star.
