The Northern Polytechnic was a third-level educational institution based in Holloway. Founded in 1896, it is one of the forerunners of the modern London Metropolitan University. Opened as the Northern Polytechnic Institution on 5 October 1896, with the aim of promoting "the industrial skill, general knowledge, health and well-being of young men and women", it originally provided night classes. By 1911 it was providing degree courses certified by the University of London.

By 1911 it was providing degree courses certified by the University of London. Renamed as the Northern Polytechnic, in 1971 it merged with the North Western Polytechnic (founded in Kentish Town in 1929) to form the Polytechnic of North London. This became the University of North London in 1992 and 2002 was itself merged with the London Guildhall University to form the London Metropolitan University.
