- Thri-kreen are giant, intelligen insects that hunt in packs. Taller than a humman man, the thri-kreen stands upright on two segmented legs. These giant insects might wear clothing or harnesses to carry gear, but they never wear armor. (stubs)
- The thri-kreen are humanoids that look similar to a praying mantis. They are medium sized and their favorite environments are arid grasslands. As a general rule the thri-kreen like hot and dry weather. A small number of thri-kreen live under Stormreach. Far more live in the Menechtarun desert. There is solid archeological evidence that the thri-kreen long ago claimed Stormreach as their own city. They established their own structures withing the underground sections of giant ruins. What destroyed their civilization is totally unknown. References Expanded Psionics Handbook
- In the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game, the thri-kreen, or "mantis warriors", are an insect-like monstrous humanoid race. Thri-kreen are one of the primary player character races of the Dark Sun campaign setting, and have also appeared in the Spelljammer campaign setting as well as the Dungeons & Dragons v3.5 Monster Manual among creatures that, while used primarily as fodder for the formerly "default" Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting, Forgotten Realms, are officially independent of any campaign setting whatsoever. Thus, these stereotypical insectoids, like those of alternate names in countless other works of fantasy and science fiction, have joined the ranks of ogres, dragons, golems, and other monsters as a stock character of the fantasy genre's monstrous pantheon or rogu
- Thri-kreen are humanoid mantids with 4 arms, though 2 arms are smaller and weaker than the others. The thri-kreen share no interest in other races other than for hunting and therefore are usually a neutral alignment. Although they are savages, they share a hive mind and can communicate telepathically with others in their tribe. The thri-kreen have an average lifespan of 30 years, however this short time is counteracted by the fact that thri-kreen do not require sleep and can live out all moments of their 30 years.
