In Russian mythology, the Sirin is a creature that has the head and upper chest of a beautiful woman and the body of an owl. They resided near Eden and around the Euphrates River and would sing beautiful songs. Should a person hear the song, they would forget everything they know and become entranced, following the bird off to die. The Sirin is an import of the Siren from Greek mythology.
