Cologne tells Ranma that she recently received a Chinese tonic for hair-growth. Ranma takes it to Genma, who agrees to try it, and they discover that the tonic only works when the person is angry. When angry, it forms strong, tall spikes of hair that fall off the instant the person feels happy. Ranma finds the hair unbearable (especially since Genma moves around too much while he sleeps) and attempts to get rid of the tonic. While chasing Ranma, Genma falls into the Tendo pond and becomes a giant ball of hair that rolls over anything in its way. He makes a mistake of laughing while cornering Ranma and all the excess hair falls off.
