The Mythic Age is the final age in Age of Mythology and second to last in The Titans. Originally it provided the strongest buildings, upgrades and units but was superseded by the Titan Age and the Titan unit. To advance one of two lesser gods must be chosen along with building a market. The lesser gods available depend on the civilization and major god. The god powers in the Mythic Age are often devastating to the enemy and can end games.

  • In the beginning, magic formed itself into the Cosmic Egg, from which hatched Asha and Urgash, the Primordial Dragons. Urgash basked in the infinite possibilities of magic, while Asha decided to give it shape and purpose. She defined the six "colors" of magic (Darkness, Light, Earth, Fire, Water, and Air), and created the six Elemental Dragons as their manifestations. Together, Asha and her children created Ashan, and Asha filled it with the elder races, who would be servants for her children. The faceless served Malassa, goddess of Darkness. The angels served Elrath, god of Light. The elves served Sylanna, goddess of Earth. The dwarves served Arkath, god of Fire. The nagas served Shalassa, goddess of water. And the humans served Ylath, god of Air. Asha then baptized them in the blood of their patron dragon, giving them sentience and the ability to use magic. Jealous of his sister's creation, Urgash decided to destroy everything she had built. He spawned the demons in mockery of the elder races, and created the six Demon Overlords to represent the six elemental dragons. War broke out between them, a conflict later known as the Wars of Creation. It was fought on all levels of reality, but in the end, Asha and her children were victorious. Urgash was jailed in Ashan's fiery core, and his offspring fled to the far corners of the world, to hide and gather their strength. When Asha saw the devastation brought to her creation, she wept. Her tears split the world in two: a material world subject to time, life, death, seasons, and the passage of night and day, and a spirit world, which was perfect and unchanging, like the world before its corruption. The dragons lived in the spirit world, separated from their servants in the material world. The two worlds were separated by a Veil, a magical gate and antechamber full of dreams, ghosts and frozen memories. Asha, severely weakened by this ritual, wove a cocoon around herself to rejuvenate. The cocoon's reflection in the material world was called the moon. Thi marked the end of the Mythic Age, and the dawn of the Ancient Age.
