- Ties That Bind is a limited Alert mission that was available from 6 February to 11 February 2014. Ties That Bind features the story of Darvo as he contacted the Tenno to help him liberate himself from the Corpus board. Players were rewarded with a Forma upon completion.
- Ties That Bind is a dormant flag on the Hunter Ocean.
- The Ties That Bind was a Mastery 2 (Divination) water spell which allowed the shugenja to attune him with water sent deep under the ground, to locate one individual or one manmade object. It was very useful for magistrate shugenja, who used it over any suspect who escaped.
- Xena saves a warrior who claims that he is her father, Atrius. Meanwhile, Ares tells a warlord to kill Xena, as she stands in his way of becoming 'the best in the job'.

- Xena and Gabrielle watch as a warlord named Kirilus puts many women and girls into a cage; his most recent pillage. Xena wants to save them, and hatches a plot, but before she can do anything a man with white hair runs from the woods and attacks the warlords. Xena goes and saves him; he says he is her father, Atrius. Xena does not believe him. She and Gabrielle rescue the women and girls, and one runs away because she "went willingly" with the warlord's men in order to spare her sister.

*We start to hear more about Stalker and Snake-Eyes' shared experience in 'Nam, first discussed in Snakes' "origin story" in issues 26 and 27. It is revealed that the other three members of Stalker's and Snake-Eyes' LRRP were named Ramon Escobedo, Dickie Saperstein and Wade Collins, followed immediately by the revelation that Collins is still alive and is the same person as Fred II.
*Of the seven fan letters printed on this issue's "Postbox: The Pit!" page, three were from female readers, one was from an active duty Vietnam vet, and another was from the son of a career Army Officer. Despite over 200 tries, no one won a No-Prize for explaining the errors in issue 38.
