The sea mangler is a highly-aggressive, amphibious sea creature inhabiting temperate waters around the main continent of Aranna. Sea manglers habitually make landfall and bask on the open sand in large groups. When their population booms, sea manglers are a ready, if dangerous, source of good-quality meat for coastal settlements like Meren. Fishermen had already cleared them out by the time adventurers arrived in the town on the quest to unite the Townstones, leaving the heroes with less-edible foes such as Trolls and Bandits.

All manglers have the general appearance of a deep-sea fish, with a scaly body, a huge, toothy maw and gullet, and fins to allow motion underwater. They are also equipped with clawed forearms that allow them to quickly crawl overland. While other types of manglers have one eye, the sea mangler has two small eyes, perhaps to allow some limited depth-perception in the open sea.
