- From Wikipedia: Gladiator is a fictional character that appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character first appeared in X-Men vol. 1, #107 (October 1977) and was created by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum. Gladiator is the Praetor (leader) of the elite corps of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard — an army of powerful beings that enforce Shi'ar Imperial law on all planets within the Shi'ar Galaxy.
