  • Boomerang started out as a block on Cartoon Network in December 1992. Then when Cartoon Network started to put on more originals, Turner created a channel based on Hanna-Barbera and MGM cartoons. This later became helpful when Hanna-Barbera ceased operations in 2001 after William Hanna died in the same year. Boomerang now has only The Flintstones and The Jetsons as Hanna-Barbera cartoons. They also started adding shows like Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and The Garfield Show, as well as Teen Titans GO! and Gumball.

This later became helpful when Hanna-Barbera ceased operations in 2001 after William Hanna died in the same year. On April 1, 2000 (the anniversary of the cancellation of The Flintstones in 1966), Boomerang launched with a variety. Because of Cartoon Network dropping, Boomerang did too. In the 2010s, Boomerang started to become less known as a dumping ground and more a Cartoon Network clone, adding Teen Titans GO! and The Amazing World of Gumball, and removing shows like Wacky Races and Snorks. This all came to one moment. On January 19, 2015, Boomerang rebranded its channel. Boomerang now has only The Flintstones and The Jetsons as Hanna-Barbera cartoons. They also started adding shows like Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and The Garfield Show, as well as Teen Titans GO! and Gumball. On April 11, 2017, Boomerang announced that it would begin live-streaming selected series from Hanna-Barbera and Cartoon Network on iOS and Android.
