The Metastraten Succession Crisis was a period of instability in the Metastraten sector during which time the leadership of the sector's ruling body, the Metastraten Coalition, was contested. The conflict began in 129 ABY with the assassination of the Baron of Metastrato, Jaisann Meheron, and most of his family, by Darth Evancer, working in concert with Prime Minister Hiram Cotra. The youngest Meheron daughter, Nyanna was taken into hiding, while Evancer absconded with only son Erik. The bodies of the family, covered in lightsabre wounds, were used to incriminate the Samean Jedi, long-time guardians of the Meherons, specifically Jedi Knight Laahn Ka. The Temple on Samea was destroyed and the Samean Jedi all but wiped out.

The conflict began in 129 ABY with the assassination of the Baron of Metastrato, Jaisann Meheron, and most of his family, by Darth Evancer, working in concert with Prime Minister Hiram Cotra. The youngest Meheron daughter, Nyanna was taken into hiding, while Evancer absconded with only son Erik. The bodies of the family, covered in lightsabre wounds, were used to incriminate the Samean Jedi, long-time guardians of the Meherons, specifically Jedi Knight Laahn Ka. The Temple on Samea was destroyed and the Samean Jedi all but wiped out. Cotra was declared Regent of Metastrato and spent the next eight years consolidating his power, while searching for Nyanna and Erik. A resistance movement soon began to form, combining democrats and Meheron loyalists, against Cotra's oppressive regime. His personal assassin, Dark Jedi Faran Kess, located Nyanna, now almost twenty-one and primed to take over the throne vacated by her deceased father, on the distant planet Rhen Var. Here, Nyanna had been trained in the ways of the Jedi by Laahn Ka and Jedi Master Astrid. By way of Felucia and Kashyyyk she was brought to the Metastraten sector by the crew of the StarHawkand joined the resistance on the planet Madooine. Things came to a head in the Clawbeak Nebula, where Evancer had been building a star dreadnaught unbeknownst to the wider galaxy. Cotra and a fleet of Metastraten ships attacked, looking to remove the threat to his power posed by his former partner in conspiracy. Nyanna, Laahn Ka, Rann Tye, Lilithan'cara and a strike team arrived at the same time and boarded the ship hoping to rescue Erik and defeat Evancer. When the larger Resistance fleet arrived, commanded by surviving Samean Jedi Laurent Meheron, Jaisann's sister, Captain Valeria Lorda turned on Cotra, forcing him to flee his flagship. Laahn Ka was killed by Evancer, who in turn killed Erik, now little more than a brainwashed slave. The Sith Lord was struck down by Nyanna, who fled the ship before it was destroyed and was subsequently declared Baroness of Metastrato and vowed to heal the wounds caused by Cotra's regnancy.
