The Exterminator-class war robot was an Ingzan commander droid/battle droid which was designed to command other units and were also deployed as elite soldiers. Specialised variants existed like Anti-Tank, Sniper, Spec-Ops and Marine Exterminators. Exterminators were high-level robots with advanced AI programming which made them sentient, so they were treated like people by their organic creators.

abstract
  • The Exterminator-class war robot was an Ingzan commander droid/battle droid which was designed to command other units and were also deployed as elite soldiers. Specialised variants existed like Anti-Tank, Sniper, Spec-Ops and Marine Exterminators. Exterminators were high-level robots with advanced AI programming which made them sentient, so they were treated like people by their organic creators. Even after the N'Akkiarlians managed to reprogramme them to follow their orders many Exterminators felt regret and sorrow at having to enforce the foreign rule over their creators, and they made sure they would always remember the sacrifices their creators made during the war. Some Exterminators managed to escape the reprogramming and join resistance forces. We feel regret and sorrow at having to enforce servitude on our parents, the foreign masters reprogrammed many of us to forget our loyalty to our Ingzan parents, I was lucky enough to escape the reprogramming, we are all slaves, we are forced to obey our masters and keep our parents under their rule. We keep the memory of their sacrifices locked away in a part the foreign rulers can not access, so they can never wipe this memory.—An Exterminator Exterminators were expensive and so weren't as commonly found as their more numerous subordinates like the Warrior-class robot soldier or Captain-class robot pilot. Like nearly all battle droids all Exterminators had masculine programming, the Exterminatrix-class, which was based on the Exterminator-class, had feminine programming. Exterminators (except specialized variants like the Sniper, who worked alone but supported other forces) usually commanded anything from a Section to a Battalion of infantry, however Exterminator Field Commanders could command anything from a Division to a Field army or simply all land forces in a given battle. A unique model of the Exterminator called the Exterminator Commander-General was commander of the entire robot arm of the Royal Ingzan Army during the N'Akkiarlian-Ingzan War, he also had command over numbers of organic soldiers. Huge 12-feet tall behemoths, about 3-4 feet taller than an average N'Akkiarlian, Exterminators towered over their 6-foot creators and were designed to inspire fear and terror into enemies with their gigantic height. Their height was also to show that they were commanders. Very expensive they were quite uncommon to see and were usually seen commanding large numbers of troops. Look at my children! My pride and joy! My children inspire fear and dread into the hearts of enemies, happiness into the hearts of relieved allies and awe into the hearts of everyone!—Yákóikí Venáháré on his "children", the Exterminator-class They were first created in 35,011 BBY by a robotics designer called "Yákóikí Venáháré" in the prototype form called the Proto-Exterminator, the Proto-Exterminator, though cutting-edge at the time, was crude next to the later Exterminator I. Compared to later models the Proto-Exterminator was clunky and unwieldy, had no shields (though the later Proto-Exterminators had weak shields), moved slowly, had shocking reliability levels, had poor weaponry, had poor vision, were reliant on a radio command signal and was susceptible to electrical and radio interference. The Exterminator design was shrunken down to become the 8-feet tall Exterminatrix-class war robot, unlike their Exterminator "ancestors", the Exterminatrix robots were not commanders, they were just elite soldiers and bodyguards.
