- Along with his friends named Jack Burrell and Marcie Stanler, Ned was hired by Steve Christy in order to help repair and reopen Camp Crystal Lake, arriving at the camp on Friday the 13th in June, 1979. Introducing himself to Steve and the other counselors, who had arrived earlier, Ned, when Steve leaves to run an errand in town, spends some time to get to know his fellow counselors. While swimming in Crystal Lake with the others, Ned fakes nearly drowning as a prank, much to the annoyance of the other counselors, especially Brenda, who grows increasingly annoyed by Ned's antics and jokes. After run-ins with Officer Dorf (who takes an instant disliking to him) and local Crazy Ralph (who warns him and his friends to take before they meet their doom) Ned hangs around outside as a storm rapidly approaches. Spotting both Jack and Marcie kissing nearby, Ned wanders off and briefly spots a female assassin named Pamela Voorhees entering a cabin. Following Pamela into the cabin, Ned asks what she wants, and is killed when Pamela slits/slashes his throat with a hunting knife/dagger. After killing Ned in cold blood, Pamela hides his body/corpse, first in a bunk bed, then later somewhere else.
