Fred was part of the Fernwood detachment that formed up and marched toward the Glenview border wall when The Valley attempted invade Topanga. The detachment was warned by Connor Tillman of a second Valley force trying to slip past the defenses through the wilderness by Topanga village. The Fernwood commander ordered Fred to head up to Glenview to warn them of the second attack and that Fernwood would be delayed trying to stop it. He agreed and hurried up Topanga Canyon Boulevard to do so while the rest of the detachment deployed to counter the threat.
