Synopsis
  • Despero and the remains of the Justice League satellite land in northwestern Maine. When he absorbs the. being of a deer hunter, he discovers that the JLA he knew has been disbanded and replaced by the one led by Batman. Meanwhile, Zatanna, drugged to prevent her from casting any spells, watches as Adam receives her genetic pattern. Bruce Wayne and Mari McCabe are dining in a Gotham restaurant when Despero causes a huge explosion in the center of town. Calling the other members, Batman and Vixen go into action against the villain, but are hopelessly outmatched by a being who can make the earth, buildings, and air explode or come to life around them. The other JLA members are gathered at the Sanctuary, but the link to the Gotham City teleport tube has been broken, so J'onn J'onzz, Elongated Man, Steel, Vibe, and Gypsy fly in by helicopter. They reach Despero easily, only to find Batman and Vixen helpless victims in the inferno.
