The Toronto St Michaels Monarchs played one season only in the Ontario Hockey Association's major series in 1950-51. The team was organized by the Maple Leaf Gardens. The St. Michaels name was used to capitalize on the publicity of the junior team. The team imported a lot of the players from the folded teams in the Pacific Coast Hockey League. The Monarchs were hampered by the lack of available playing dates at the Maple Leaf Gardens. They were not too popular at the gate. either. They were obviously a low-level minor pro team in a city that was used to major league hockey.
