| - A race of repto-mammals, the Kel Dor evolved on their homeworld Dorin from scaleless, egg-laying primates. Kel Dor were bipedal beings with a bilateral symmetry, having a front and a back end, as well as an upside and downside. Their body comprised of a head, neck, torso, and four limbs. The upper limbs, called arms, ended in hands which had four fingers each; the lower ones, called legs, ended in feet with three digits. Kel Dor fingers had multiple points of articulation, and one of them was an opposable thumb that allowed for fine manipulation. Each finger was tipped with a thick, black claw. Finally, they had one head perched atop a torso with a general Humanoid skull structure comprised of two forward facing eyes and a unique jaw structure. Where the nasal ridge descended between the eyes, it abruptly stopped and opened upon a toothless chasm-like mouth. Drooping fleshy lips opened over the mouth vertically, concealing an upper and lower hard-palate used for cracking nuts and seed pods. Framing their head were extrasensory organs which terminated in small black tusks below the jaw. Hairless and scaleless, Kel Dor had thick, leathery skin was hardy and capable of withstanding the extremes of vacuum and resistant to decompression sickness. Kel Dor were warm-blooded animals, meaning they maintained a constant body temperature independent of the environment using the energy from their food. Kel Dor were nucivorous, subsisting on seeds and nuts for energy. Kel Dor had two sexes: male and female, with the latter being distinguished by their pronounced breasts, overall smaller stature and lesser quantity of body hair. Members of the Kel Dor race could not interbreed naturally with any other species. Despite overall physiological uniformity, Kel Dor varied greatly in appearance, and no two looked exactly alike. One of the diversity factors was height. Kel Dor averaged 1.65 meters in height, although males were usually taller and heavier than females. Kel Dor eyes were black, adapted to both daylight and nighttime conditions, with advanced visual depth perception but lacking color vision. Force-sensitive Kel Dor exhibited the unusual silver eye-coloring. Gradiation of skin tone was also seen among Kel Dor, restricted to varied shades of reds, orange, and brown. Due to Dorin having a unique atmosphere composed of helium and doria gas unique to their world, the Kel Dors were forced to wear an antiox breath mask and protective goggles whenever in atmospheres of a different composition. This equipment protected them from carbon dioxide, nitrogen and oxygen which were fatal to a Kel Dor. The breathing mask also helped to amplify the Kel Dor's voice, as they were forced to shout to produce any sound when out of their native atmosphere. Without their protective goggles, Kel Dors were considered effectively blind when away from Dorin. The Kel Dors had heightened reflexes, a result of the extrasensory organs in their heads. As a species, they were thought to be typically quick and wise, but of a weaker constitution, when compared to other species. Kel Dor were sexually-reproduced animals, requiring the mating of an opposite sex couple to produce offspring. Male Kel Dor impregnated females through the insertion of one of two hemipenes into the cloaca beneath the female's tailbone. As repto-mammals, Kel Dor females laid a single egg which they guarded for four weeks in a humid environment before it hatched. Breaking out of their egg on its own, Kel Dor crawled on all four limbs for six weeks before learning to stand. According to the Baron Do, the legal transition from childhood to adulthood was only attained after sixteen standard years of life. Kel Dor had an average lifespan of 65 standard years. Those who were keenly attuned to the Force could live up to 250. At any rate, individuals past the age of 70 were considered to have reached an age worthy of veneration. Natural signs of ageing in Kel Dor included the dulling of the skin, loss of vision, and loss of motor-function. Old Kel Dor would experience a decline in many cognitive processes, frequently losing track of time, misidentifying people or places and, in extreme cases, momentarily forgetting about their own identity or state.
