The players hire the witcher Geralt of Rivia to kill monsters that ravage the countryside. Players have to use special abilities of Geralt's friends, collect attack cards, events cards and gold. The game box contains 110 cards, 24 Gold counters, a Witcher counter, a sack and the game rules. A simpler card game by the same authors, called The Witcher: Promo Card Game, was added to Collector's Edition of The Witcher in Poland.
