- Darnell is a level 1 Forsaken warrior that helps Forsaken players during a few quests in Deathknell. After defeating the Rotbrains, Darnell is made into a Deathguard and stationed at Deathknell. He will also appear in the Firelands patch in Mount Hyjal. Darnell could be a reference to Daneel, a character from Isaac Asimov's novel The Naked Sun. In the novel, Daneel assisted the main character in adapting to a new world and served him most of the time, much like Darnell in the beginning quests.[citation needed]
- When Steve finds his unmailed letters to Snot in "Why Can't We Be Friends?" after Stan arranged the same scheme when he believes Snot isn't good for his son, Hayley tells him of how Stan had him witness a fake murder and placed him in hiding in an apartment building in Lanceton the same as Snot. When Steve arrives at the building, he finds Snot and Stan playing air guitar after bonding the night before. Darnell pokes his head in while wearing a blond wig similar to one Snot was given to pass himself off as Swedish to see if its safe to come out of hiding and Stan replies with "nope.".
- Darnell get's permission from the hospital to shoot Kenny's procedure, but when Kenny takes a turn for the worse and the case is assigned to House, she doesn't get much co-operation despite Cuddy reminding House that the documentary company is paying for Kenny's hospital bills. However, House has a point - Darnell keeps trying to get the doctors to say things in front of the camera to advance the story. However, Darnell gets her revenge on House. She edits his sarcastic comments to make it look like House is a caring doctor and human being.

- Darnell was a male Human Starfleet crewman who lived during the mid-23rd century. He served in the sciences division aboard the USS Enterprise under Captain James T. Kirk, during a historic five-year mission that starship undertook. Darnell was played by Michael Zaslow. He was the first Star Trek casualty, the first character to die on-screen, and the first to be pronounced dead on-screen by Dr. McCoy. The Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 182) identified Darnell as a security officer. The novel My Brother's Keeper: Constitution gives him the first name "Scott".
