During the population of Alagaësia he and his brother combined their knowledge, to create the dragons. According to the dwarven priest Gannel, the two brothers couldn't exist without each other. Following their death, dwarves are said to dine in Morgothal's hall. The name Morgothal is allusive to the name of the Enemy of J.R.R. Tolkien's universe, Melkor, later named Morgoth. Morgoth's associations with Balrogs, demons of shadow and fire, intensify this allusion, as Morgothal was the god of fire.
