- The Maenads were a group of crazed women under the command of Kakistos in Greek antiquity. Kakistos, rather than turning these victims into vampires, tortured them until their minds broke. They would then serve him, bringing him prey, destroying villages, and would be branded with his mark. At one point, they captured a young girl named Alexandra. However, when her mind was finally broken, Alexandra made a deal with D'Hoffryn. In exchange for her service as a vengeance demon, the Maenads were extinguished with a thought.
