The Choice Leadership Election 3866 was held following the resignation of Margaret Sturgeon as leader in April 3866, however she stayed on as leader until the election was held. The election was won by Charles Davison, who was personally endorsed by all three former leaders of the party and much of the public. The Minister of Science and Technology Ian Bradbury came second in this election, being less popular significantly than Charles Davison due to his strange persona and his over importance of science and technology. Barbara Hartnel came last in this election, mostly due to her being significantly more left-wing than her opponents. The election was held using a simple plurality voting system.
