- Joseph Ambrose "Joe" Sestak, Jr. (born December 12, 1951) is a former U.S. Navy three-star Admiral and former American politician. A Democrat, he served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for two terms, from from 2007 to 2011. He was and remains the highest-ranking military official ever elected to the U.S. Congress. On May 14, 2013 he announced that he was considering a rematch with Pat Toomey and launched an exploratory campaign for the United States Senate in 2016.
