| - Excerpp fum a local Noospaper: OMINOUS UNKNOWN KILLER IS STILL AT LARGE. Af'er weeks of unexplained murders, th' ominous unknown killer is still on th' rise. Af'er li'l evidence has been foun', a yo'ng fella states thet he survived one of th' killer's attacks an' bravely tells his sto'y. "ah had a bad dream an' ah woke up in th' middle of th' night," says th' fella, "ah sar thet fo' some reason th' window was open, even though ah remember it bein' closed befo'e ah went t'bed, cuss it all t' tarnation. ah got up an' shet it once mo'e. Af'erwards, ah simply crawled unner mah covahs an' tried t'git back t'sleep. Thet's when ah had a peekoolyar feelin', like someone was watchin' me. ah looked up, an' nearly jumped outta mah bed, cuss it all t' tarnation. Thar, in th' li'l ray of light, illuminatin' fum between mah curtains, were a pair of two eyes. These wasn't regular eyes; they were dark, ominous eyes. They were bo'dered in black an'... jest plain out terrified me. Thet's when ah sar his mouth. A long, ho'renjus smile thet made ev'ry hair on mah hide stan' up. Th' figger stood thar, watchin' me. Finally, af'er whut seemed like fo'evah, he said it. A simple phrase, but said in a way only a mad as a weasel in a blender man c'd speak. Shet mah mouth! "He said, 'Git To Sleep.' ah let out a scream, thass whut sent him at me. He pulled up a knife; aimin' at mah heart. He jumped on top of mah bed, cuss it all t' tarnation. ah fought him back; ah kicked, ah punched, ah rolled aroun', tryin' t'knock him off me. Thet's when mah Paw bested in, as enny fool kin plainly see. Th' man threw th' knife, it went into mah Paw's sh'der. Th' man probably'd've finished him off, eff'n one of th' neighbo's hadn't alerted th' po-lice. "They drove into th' parkin' lot, an' scooted towards th' dore. Th' man turned an' scooted down th' hallway. ah heard a smash, like glass bustin'. As ah came outta mah room, ah sar th' window thet was pointin' towards th' back of mah house was busted. ah looked out it t'see him vanish into th' distance. ah can tell yo' one thin', ah will nevah fo'git thet face. Them cold, evil eyes, an' thet psychotic smile. They will nevah leave mah haid." Po-lice is still on th' look fo' this hyar man, as enny fool kin plainly see. Eff'n yo' see ennyone thet fits th' dexcripshun in this hyar sto'y, please corntack yer local po-lice department. Jeff an' his fambly had jest moved into a noo neighbo'hood, cuss it all t' tarnation. His Paw had gotten a promoshun at wawk, an' they thunk it'd be bess to live in one of them "fancy" neighbo'hoods. Jeff an' his brother Liu c'dn't complain though. A noo, better house. Whut in tarnation was not t'love? As they were gittin' unpacked, one of their neighbo's came by. "Howdy," she said, "ah's Barbaree; ah live acrost th' street fum yo'. Wal, ah jest wanted t'intrydooce mah se'f an' t'intrydooce mah son, as enny fool kin plainly see." She turns aroun' an' calls her son on over. "Billy Joe, these is our noo neighbo's." Billy Joe said howdy-doo an' scooted back t'play in his yard, cuss it all t' tarnation. "Wal," said Jeff's mom, "ah's Daisy, an' this hyar is mah husbin Peter, an' mah two sons, Jeff an' Liu." They etch intrydooced themselves, an' then Barbaree invited them t'her son's birthday. Jeff an' his brother were about t'objeck, when their Mammy said thet they'd love to. When Jeff an' his fambly is done packin', Jeff went up t'his mom, dawgone it. "Mom, whuffo"d yo' invite us t'some kid's party? Eff'n yo' ain't noticed, ah's not some dumb kid, cuss it all t' tarnation." "Jeff," said his Mammy, "We jest moved hyar; we sh'd show thet we're hankerin' t'spend time wif our neighbo's. Now, we is a-gonna thet party, an' thass final, ah reckon." Jeff started t'talk, but stopped hisse'f, knowin' thet he c'dn't does ennythin'. Whenevah his Maw said sumpin, it was final, ah reckon. He walked up t'his room an' plopped down on his bed, cuss it all t' tarnation. He sat thar lookin' at his ceilin' when suddenly, he got a weird feelin'. Not so much a pain, but... a weird feelin'. He dismissed it as jest some ran'om feelin'. He heard his Mammy call him down t'git his stuff, an' he walked down t'git it. Th' next day, Jeff walked down stairs t'git bustfast an' got ready fo' skoo. As he sat thar, eatin' his bustfast, he once agin got thet feelin'. This hyar time it was stronger. It gave him a slight tuggin' pain, but he once agin dismissed it. As he an' Liu finished bustfast, they walked down t'th' bus stop. They sat thar waitin' fo' th' bus, an' then, all of a sudden, some kid on a skateboard jumped on over them, only inches above their laps. They both jumped back in surprise. "Hey, whut th' hell?" Th' kid lan'ed an' turned back t'them, dawgone it. He kicked his skate board up an' caught it wif his han's. Th' kid seems t'be about twelve; one year yo'nger than Jeff. He wars a Aeropostale shirt an' ripped blue jeans. "Wal, fine, fine. It looks like we got some noo meat." Suddenly, two other kids appeared, cuss it all t' tarnation. One was super hideny an' t'other was huge. "Wal, on account o' yer noo hyar, I'd like t'intrydooce ourselves, on over thar is Keif." Jeff an' Liu looked on over t'th' hideny kid, cuss it all t' tarnation. He had a dopey face thet yo"d speck a sidekick t'have. "An' he's Troy." They looked on over at th' fat kid, cuss it all t' tarnation. Talk about a tub of lard, cuss it all t' tarnation. This hyar kid looked like he hadn't exercised on account o' he was crawlin'. "An' I," said th' fust kid, "am Ran'y. Now, fo' all th' kids in this hyar neighbo'hood thar is a small price fo' bus fare, eff'n yo' ketch mah drif'." Liu stood up, ready t'punch th' lights outta th' kid's eyes when one of his friends pulled a knife on him, dawgone it. "Tsk, tsk, tsk, ah had hoped yo"d be mo'e cooperative, but it seems we muss does this th' hard way." Th' kid walked up t'Liu an' took his wallet outta his pocket. Jeff got thet feelin' agin. Now, it was truly strong; a burnin' sensashun. He stood up, but Liu gestured him t'set down, as enny fool kin plainly see. Jeff igno'ed him an' walked up t'th' kid, cuss it all t' tarnation. "Lissen hyar yo' li'l punk, give back mah bro's wallet o' else." Ran'y put th' wallet in his pocket an' pulled out his own knife. "Oh? An' whut will yo' do?" Jest as he finished th' sentence, Jeff popped th' kid in th' nose. As Ran'y retched fo' his face, Jeff grabbed th' kid's wrist an' busted it. Ran'y screamed an' Jeff grabbed th' knife fum his han'. Troy an' Keif rushed Jeff, but Jeff was too quick. Shet mah mouth! He threw Ran'y t'th' groun'. Keif lashed out at him, but Jeff ducked an' stabbed him in th' arm, dawgone it. Keif dropped his knife an' fell t'th' groun' screamin'. Troy rushed him too, but Jeff didn't even need th' knife. He jest punched Troy straight in th' stomach an' Troy went down, as enny fool kin plainly see. As he fell, he puked all on over. Liu c'd does nothin' but look in amazement at Jeff. "Jeff how'd yo'?" thet was all he said, cuss it all t' tarnation. They sar th' bus a-comin' an' knowed they'd be blamed fo' th' whole thin'. So they started runnin' as fast as they c'd. As they ran, they looked back an' sar th' bus drivah rushin' on over t'Ran'y an' t'others. As Jeff an' Liu made it t'skoo, they didn't dast tell whut happened, cuss it all t' tarnation. All they did was set an' lissen. Liu jest thunk of thet as his brother beatin' up a few kids, but Jeff knowed it was mo'e. It was sumpin, scary. As he got thet feelin' he felt how pow'ful it was, th' urge t'jest, hurt someone. He didn't like how it soun'ed, but he c'dn't he'p feelin' happy. He felt thet peekoolyar feelin' hoof it away, an' stay away fo' th' entire day of skoo. Even as he walked home due t'th' whole thin' near th' bus stop, an' how now he probably'dn't be takin' th' bus ennymo'e, he felt happy. When he got home his parents axed him how his day was, an' he said, in a somewhut ominous voice, "It was a wonnerful day." Next mo'nin', he heard a knock at his front dore. He walked down t'find two po-lice officers at th' dore, his Mammy lookin' back at him wif an angry look. Shet mah mouth! "Jeff, these officers tell me thet yo' attacked three kids. Thet it warn't regular fightin', an' thet they were stabbed, cuss it all t' tarnation. Stabbed, son! Fry mah hide!" Jeff's gaze fell t'th' flore, showin' his Mammy thet it was true. "Mom, they were th' ones who pulled th' knives on me an' Liu." "Son," said one of th' cops," We foun' three kids, two stabbed, one havin' a bruise on his stomach, an' we haf witnesses provin' thet yo' fled th' scene. Now, whut does thet tell us?" Jeff knowed it was no use. He c'd say him an' Liu had been attacked, but then thar was no proof it was not them who attacked fust. They c'dn't say thet they wasn't fleein', on account o' truth be told they were. So Jeff c'dn't defend hisse'f o' Liu. "Son, call down yer brother." Jeff c'dn't does it, on account o' it was him who beat up all th' kids. "Suh, it...it was me. ah was th' one who beat up th' kids. Liu tried t'hold me back, but he c'dn't stop me." Th' cop looked at his partner an' they both nod, cuss it all t' tarnation. "Wal kid, looks like a year in Juvy..." "Wait! Fry mah hide!" says Liu. They all looked up t'see him holdin' a knife. Th' officers pulled their guns an' locked them on Liu. "It was me, ah beat up them li'l punks. Have th' marks t'prove it." He lif'ed up his sleeves t'reveal cuts an' bruises, as eff'n he was in a struggle. "Son, jest put th' knife down," said th' officer. Liu held up th' knife an' dropped it t'th' groun'. He put his han's up an' walked on over t'th' cops. "No Liu, it was me! ah did it! Fry mah hide!" Jeff had tears runnin' down his face. "Huh, pore bro. Tryin' t'take th' blame fo' whut ah did, cuss it all t' tarnation. Wal, take me away." Th' po-lice led Liu out t'th' patrol car. "Liu, tell them it was me! Tell them! Fry mah hide! ah was th' one who beat up them kids!" Jeff's Mammy put her han's on his sh'ders. "Jeff please, yo' doesn't hafta lie. We knows it's Liu, yo' kin stop." Jeff watched he'plessly as th' cop car speeds off wif Liu inside. A few minutes later Jeff's Paw pulled into th' driveway, seein' Jeff's face an' knowin' sumpin was wrong, acco'din' t' th' code o' th' heells! "Son, son whut is it?" Jeff c'dn't answer. His vocal co'ds were strained fum cryin'. Instead, Jeff's Mammy walked his Pappy inside t'bust th' bad noos t'him as Jeff wepp in th' driveway. Af'er an hour o' so Jeff walked back in t'th' house, seein' thet his parents were both shocked, sad, an' disappointed, cuss it all t' tarnation. He c'dn't look at them, dawgone it. He c'dn't see how they thunk of Liu when it was his fault. He jest went t'sleep, tryin' t'git th' whole thin' off his mind, cuss it all t' tarnation. Two days went by, wif no wo'd fum Liu at JDC. No friends t'hang out wif. Nothin' but sadness an' guilt. Thet is until Saturday, when Jeff is woke up by his Mammy, wif a happy, sunshiny face. "Jeff, it's th' day." she said as she opened up th' curtains an' let light flood into his room, dawgone it. "Whut in tarnation, whut's today?" axed Jeff as he stirs awake. "Whuffo', it's Billy Joe's party." He was now fully awake. "Mom, yer jokin', right? Yo' doesn't speck me t'go t'some kid's party af'er..." Thar was a long pause. "Jeff, we both knows whut happened, cuss it all t' tarnation. ah reckon this hyar party c'd be th' thin' thet brightens up th' past days. Now, git dressed, cuss it all t' tarnation." Jeff's Mammy walked outta th' room an' downstairs t'git ready herse'f. He fought hisse'f t'git up. He picked out a ran'om shirt an' pair of jeans an' walked down stairs. He sar his Mammy an' Pappy all dressed up; his Mammy in a dress an' his Pappy in a sueyt. He thunk, whuffo' they'd evah wears sech fancy clo'es t'a kid's party? "Son, is thet all yer a-gonna war?" said Jeff's mom, dawgone it. "Better than warin' too much." he said, cuss it all t' tarnation. His Mammy pushed down th' feelin' t'yell at him an' hid it wif a smile. "Now Jeff, we may be on over-dressed, but this hyar is how yo' hoof it if yer hankerin' t'make an impresshun." said his Pappy. Jeff grunted an' went back up t'his room, dawgone it. "ah doesn't haf enny fancy clo'es! Fry mah hide!" he yelled down stairs. "Jest pick out sumpin." called his Mammy. He looked aroun' in his closet fo' whut he'd call fancy. He foun' a pair of black dress pants he had fo' special occashuns an' an unnershirt. He c'dn't find a shirt t'go wif it though. He looked aroun', an' foun' only striped an' patterned shirts. None of which hoof it wif dress pants. Finally he foun' a white hoodie an' put it on, as enny fool kin plainly see. "Yer warin' thet?" they both said, cuss it all t' tarnation. His Mammy looked at her watch. "Oh, no time t'change. Less jest go." She said as she herded Jeff an' his Pappy out th' dore. They crosted th' street on over t'Barbaree an' Billy Joe's house. They knocked on th' dore an' at it appeared thet Barbaree, jest like his parents, way on over-dressed, cuss it all t' tarnation. As they walked inside all Jeff c'd see were adults, no kids. "Th' kids is out in th' yard, cuss it all t' tarnation. Jeff, howsabout yo' hoof it an' meet some of them?" said Barbaree. Jeff walked outside t'a yard full of kids. They were runnin' aroun' in weird cowfella costooms an' shootin' etch other wif plastic guns. He might as fine be stan'in' in a Toys R Us. Suddenly a kid came up t'him an' han'ed him a toy gun an' hat. "Hey. Wanna pway?" he said, cuss it all t' tarnation. "Ah, no kid, cuss it all t' tarnation. ah's way too old fo' this hyar stuff." Th' kid looked at him wif thet weird houn'doghoun'dog face. "Pwease?" said th' kid, cuss it all t' tarnation. "Fine," said Jeff. He put on th' hat an' started t'pretend shoot at th' kids. At fust he thunk it was mighty ridiculous, but then he started t'acshully haf fun, as enny fool kin plainly see. It might not haf been super right fine, but it was th' fust time he had done sumpin thet took his mind off of Liu. So he played wif th' kids fo' a spell, until he heard a noise. A weird rollin' noise. Then it hit him, dawgone it. Ran'y, Troy, an' Keif all jumped on over th' fence on their skateboards. Jeff dropped th' fake gun an' ripped off th' hat. Ran'y looked at Jeff wif a burnin' hatred, cuss it all t' tarnation. "Howdy, Jeff, is it?" he said, cuss it all t' tarnation. "We haf some unfinished business." Jeff sar his bruised nose." ah reckon we is even, as enny fool kin plainly see. ah beat th' crap outta yo', an' yo' git mah brother sent t'JDC." Ran'y got an angry look in his eyes. "Oh no, ah doesn't hoof it fo' even, ah go fo' winnin'. Yo' may haf kicked our asses thet one day, but not today." As he said thet Ran'y rushed at Jeff. They both fell t'th' groun'. Ran'y punched Jeff in th' nose, an' Jeff grabbed him by th' ears an' haid butted him, dawgone it. Jeff pushed Ran'y off of him an' both rose t'their feet. Kids were screamin' an' parents were runnin' outta th' house. Troy an' Keif both pulled guns outta their pockets. "No one interrupps o' guts will fly! Fry mah hide!" they said, cuss it all t' tarnation. Ran'y pulled a knife on Jeff an' stabbed it into his sh'der. Jeff screamed an' fell t'his knees. Ran'y started kickin' him in th' face. Af'er three kicks Jeff grabs his foot an' twists it, causin' Ran'y t'fall t'th' groun'. Jeff stood up an' walked towards th' back dore. Troy grabbed him, dawgone it. "Need some he'p?" He picks Jeff up by th' back of th' collar an' throws him through th' patio dore. As Jeff tries t'stan' he is kicked down t'th' groun'. Ran'y repeatedly starts kickin' Jeff, until he starts t'cough up blood, cuss it all t' tarnation. "Come on Jeff, fight me!" He picks Jeff up an' throws him into th' kitchen, as enny fool kin plainly see. Ran'y sees a bottle of likker on th' counter an' smashes th' glass on over Jeff's haid. "Fight! Fry mah hide!" He throws Jeff back into th' livin' room, dawgone it. "Come on Jeff, look at me!" Jeff glances up, his face riddled wif blood, cuss it all t' tarnation. "ah was th' one who gotcher brother sent t'JDC! Fry mah hide! An' now yer jest gonna set har an' let him rot in thar fo' a whole year! Fry mah hide! Yo' sh'd be ashamed! Fry mah hide!" Jeff starts t'git up. "Oh, finally! Fry mah hide! yo' stan' an' fight! Fry mah hide!" Jeff is now t'his feet, blood an' likker on his face. Once agin he gits thet peekoolyar feelin', th' one in which he hain't felt fo' a spell. "Finally. He's up! Fry mah hide!" says Ran'y as he runs at Jeff. Thet's when it happens. Sumpin inside Jeff snaps. His psyche is destroyed, all rashunal reckonin' is gone, all he kin does, is kill, ah reckon. He grabs Ran'y an' pile drives him t'th' groun'. He gits on top of him an' punches him straight in th' heart. Th' punch cuzs Ran'y's heart t'stop. As Ran'y gasps fo' breath. Jeff hammers down on him, dawgone it. Punch af'er punch, blood gushes fum Ran'y's hide, until he takes one final breath, an' dies. Ev'ryone is lookin' at Jeff now. Th' parents, th' cryin' kids, even Troy an' Keif. Although they easily bust fum their gaze an' point their guns at Jeff. Jeff see's th' guns trained on him an' runs fo' th' stairs. As he runs Troy an' Keif let out fire on him, etch shot missin'. Jeff runs up th' stairs. He hears Troy an' Keif foller up behind, cuss it all t' tarnation. As they let out their final roun's of bullets Jeff ducks into th' bathroom, dawgone it. He grabs th' towel rack an' rips it off th' wall, ah reckon. Troy an' Keif race in, knives ready. Troy swin's his knife at Jeff, who backs away an' bangs th' towel rack into Troy's face. Troy goes down hard an' now all thass lef' is Keif. He is mo'e agile than Troy though, an' ducks when Jeff swin's th' towel rack. Shet mah mouth! He dropped th' knife an' grabbed Jeff by th' neck. Shet mah mouth! He pushed him into th' wall, ah reckon. A thin' of bletch fell down on top of him fum th' top she'f. It burnt both of them an' they both started t'scream, dawgone it. Jeff wiped his eyes as bess as he c'd. He pulled back th' towel rack an' swung it straight into Keif's haid. As he lay thar, bleedin' t'death, he let out an ominous smile. "Whut in tarnation's so funny?" axed Jeff. Keif pulled out a lighter an' switched it on, as enny fool kin plainly see. "Whut in tarnation's funny," he said, "Is thet yer covahed in bletch an' alcohol, ah reckon." Jeff's eyes widened as Keif threw th' lighter at him, dawgone it. As soon as th' flame made corntack wif him, th' flames ignited th' alcohol in th' likker. While th' alcohol burned him, th' bletch bletched his hide. Jeff let out a terrible screech as he caught on fire. He tried t'roll out th' fire but it was no use, th' alcohol had made him a walkin' inferno. He scooted down th' hall, an' fell down th' stairs. Ev'rybody started screamin' as they sar Jeff, now a man on fire, drop t'th' groun', nearly daid. Th' last thin' Jeff sar was his Mammy an' t'other parents tryin' t'extin'uish th' flame. Thet's when he passed out. When Jeff woke he had a cast wrapped aroun' his face. He c'dn't see ennythin', but he felt a cast on his sh'der, an' stitches all on over his hide. He tried t'stan' up, but he reckanized thet thar was some tube in his arm, an' when he tried t'git up it fell out, an' a nurse rushed in, as enny fool kin plainly see. "ah doesn't reckon yo' kin git outta bed jest yet." she said as she put him back in his bed an' re-inserted th' tube. Jeff sat thar, wif no vishun, no idea of whut his surroun'in's were. Finally, af'er hours, he heard his Mammy. "Honey, is yo' okay?" she axed, cuss it all t' tarnation. Jeff c'dn't answer though, his face was covahed, an' he was unable t'speak. Shet mah mouth! "Oh honey, ah have great noos. Af'er all th' witnesses told th' po-lice thet Ran'y cornfessed of tryin' t'attack yo', they decided t'let Liu go." This hyar made Jeff almost bolt up, stoppin' ha'fway, rememberin' th' tube a-comin' outta his arm, dawgone it. "He'll be out by t'morry, an' then yo' two will be able t'be togither agin." Jeff's Mammy hugs Jeff an' says her goo'byes. Th' next couple of weeks were them whar Jeff was visited by his fambly. Then came th' day whar his ban'ages were t'be removed, cuss it all t' tarnation. His fambly were all thar t'see it, whut he'd look like. As th' docko's unwrapped th' ban'ages fum Jeff's face ev'ryone was on th' edge of their seats. They waited until th' last ban'age holdin' th' covah on over his face was almost removed, cuss it all t' tarnation. "Less hope fo' th' best," said th' docko'. He quickly pulls th' cloth; lettin' th' ress fall fum Jeff's face. Jeff's Mammy screams at th' sight of his face. Liu an' Jeff's Paw stare awe-struck at his face. "Whut in tarnation? Whut in tarnation happened t'mah face?" Jeff said, cuss it all t' tarnation. He rushed outta bed an' scooted to th' bathroom, dawgone it. He looked in th' mirro' an' sar th' cuz of th' distress. His face. It... it's ho'rible. His lips were burnt t'a deep shade of red, cuss it all t' tarnation. His face was turned into a pure white colo', an' his hair singid fum brown t'black. Shet mah mouth! He slowly put his han' t'his face. It had a so't of leathery feel t'it now. He looked back at his fambly then back at th' mirro'. "Jeff," said Liu, "It's not thet bad, cuss it all t' tarnation..." "Not thet bad?" said Jeff," It's puffick! Fry mah hide!" His fambly were equally surprised, cuss it all t' tarnation. Jeff started laughin' uncontrollably His parents noticed thet his lef' eye an' han' were twitchin'. "Uh... Jeff, is yo' okay?" "Okay? I've nevah felt mo'e happy! Fry mah hide! Ha ha ha ha ha haaaaaa, look at me. This hyar face goes puffickly wif me!" He c'dn't stop laughin'. He stroked his face feelin' it. Lookin' at it in th' mirro'. Whut in tarnation cuzd this? Wal, yo' may recall thet when Jeff was fightin' Ran'y sumpin in his mind, his sanity, snapped, cuss it all t' tarnation. Now he was lef' as a crazy killin' machine, thet is, his parents didn't know. "Docko'," said Jeff's mom, "Is mah son, as enny fool kin plainly see... alright, yo' know. In th' haid?" "Oh yessuh, this hyar behavio' is typical fo' patients thet haf taken mighty large amounts of pain killers. Eff'n his behavio' don't change in a few weeks, brin' him back hyar, an' we'll give him a psychological test." "Oh thank yo' docko'." Jeff's Mammy went on over t'Jeff." Jeff, sweety. It's time t'go." Jeff looks away fum th' mirro', his face still fo'med into a crazy smile. "Kay Mammy, ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaa! Fry mah hide!" his Mammy took him by th' sh'der an' took him t'git his clo'es. "This hyar is whut came in," said th' lady at th' desk. Shet mah mouth! Jeff's Maw looked down t'see th' black dress pants an' white hoodie her son wo'e. Now they were clean of blood an' now stitched togither. Jeff's Mammy led him t'his room an' made him put his clo'es on, as enny fool kin plainly see. Then they lef', not knowin' thet this hyar was their final day of life. Later thet night, Jeff's Mammy woke t'a soun' a-comin' fum th' bathroom, dawgone it. It soun'ed as eff'n someone was cryin'. She slowly walked on over t'see whut it was. When she looked into th' bathroom she sar a ho'renjus sight. Jeff had taken a knife an' carved a smile into his cheeks. "Jeff, whut is yo' doin'?" axed his Mammy. Jeff looked on over t'his Mammy. "ah c'dn't keep smilin' Mammy. It hurt af'er awhile. Now, ah can smile fo'evah. Jeff's Mammy noticed his eyes, ringid in black. Shet mah mouth! "Jeff, yer eyes!" His eyes were seemin'ly nevah closin'. "ah c'dn't see mah face. ah got tired an' mah eyes started t'close. ah burned out th' eyelids so ah c'd fo'evah see mahse'f; mah noo face." Jeff's Mammy slowly started t'back away, seein' thet her son was gwine insane. "Whut in tarnation's wrong Mammy? Isn't ah right purdy? "Yessuh son," she said, "Yessuh yer. L-let me hoof it git Pappy, so he kin see yer face." She scooted into th' room an' shook Jeff's Paw fum his sleep. "Honey, git th' gun we..." She stopped as she sar Jeff in th' doreway, holdin' a knife. "Mammy, yo' lied, cuss it all t' tarnation." Thet's th' last thin' they hear as Jeff rushes them wif th' knife, guttin' both of them, dawgone it. His brother Liu woke up, startled by some noise. He didn't hear ennythin' else, so he jest shet his eyes an' tried t'go back t'sleep. As he was on th' bo'der of slumber, he got th' peekoolyarst feelin' thet someone was watchin' him, dawgone it. He looked up, befo'e Jeff's han' covahed his mouth. He slowly raised th' knife ready t'plunge it into Liu. Liu thrashed hyar an' thar tryin' t'excape Jeff's grip. "Shhhhhhh," Jeff said, cuss it all t' tarnation. "Jest hoof it to sleep."
