- MIST (Mercury's Independent Survival Topoformer) is probably the most advanced technology created by Mercury's engineers. This process transforms the Toposphere into a self-sufficient atmosphere capable of withstanding immense blasts. MIST would only be used to defend itself from an immense explosion (the equivalent of the solar system being destroyed). Mercury would probably be the only planet, perhaps to the exception of Pluto and the outer Planetoids, to survive the destruction of the Solar System. After an explosion like this, the newly-created atmosphere would be destroyed, but this would hardly matter because of the self-sufficient Biodome cities on the surface.

- The Mist was a collective name for powerful inhabitants of a time-shifted dimension. Around Earth's 4th century, five star systems developed the technology to cross into another dimension (the later shift becoming known as the Great Move) and often returned to normal space to bring other star systems into the other dimension. The individuals later brought over included Bajorans, Cardassians, Humans, Jibetians, Klingons and a dozen other races. In 2373, the Mist attempted to bring Deep Space 9 into their dimension, but were stopped by Benjamin Sisko and the crew of the USS Defiant, with help from Captain Jackson, a Human member of the Mist's military and Sotugh. The Mist later decided to isolate themselves from the Federation and the Klingon Empire. (DS9 - The Captain's Table novel: The Mis
- MIST, sometimes styled as M.I.S.T. is a weapon research and development organization formed and headed by Victor Donovan. It was first introduced in the 2012 title Dead or Alive 5 during the events of the fifth Dead or Alive World Combat Championship. However, according to Helena Douglas, it was possible that it existed without a formal name within DOATEC while Donovan was still a member of the latter.
- As the Greil Mercenaries do work, Mist does all she can to assist them; including doing laundry and cooking meals (despite testimony from several characters, specifially Ike, stating that her cooking is atrocious), though not a mercenary herself. Mist herself dislikes fighting, but most likely understands that it is her family's livelihood, so she wholeheartedly supports them.
- Mist was a sorceress who lived in Mist Keep on the northern shore of the Dread Sea in Assail. Her powers drew on the Jaghut warren of Omtose Phellack to generate effects of fog and cold. Visitors to her keep were usually enslaved and forced to live in the huts built from wrecked ships that surrounded the keep. Mostly men and mostly foreign, her subjects raised crops to support the town on nearby fields. She had two monstrous twin sons, Anger and Wrath, who enforced her will in tandem with her powerful magic.
- Mist is, simply put, magic energy that makes up about 40% of the air in Neo Hyrule. It is richer in some areas, and sparser in others, and this directly affects the power output of spells and magic-powered technology. A Makenshi uses Mist to attack, and generally becomes stronger the stronger the mist is in the area. Haru is built with a Magitech Mist Condenser which condenses the Mist directly into a power source for him. Mist is generally invisible, but in very high concentrations it may make the air shimmer with many different colors. Mist has no effect on creatures that do not use it.
- The Mist is a supernatural force controlled by the goddess Hecate that twists a mortal's sight from seeing monsters, gods, Titans, and various other mythical creatures and supernatural occurrences by replacing them with things the mortal mind knows about and can comprehend. This includes seeing magical weapons, as Percy's sword Riptide sometimes appears to mortals as a rifle or a baseball bat. Some mortals can see through the Mist as well, including Rachel Elizabeth Dare, May Castellan, Sally Jackson and possibly, Esperanza Valdez.
- Mist (ミスト Misuto, Alja in the German version) is a playable character from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. She is Ike's younger sister, and the daughter of Greil and Elena. She fights with the Greil Mercenaries out of a fear of being separated from her brother, using healing magic taught to her by Rhys. When the Medallion reaches its critical state, Mist is the only beorc to be affected by its call, and collapses in a similar manner to the Herons. Mist appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as a Sticker, and in Fire Emblem Awakening as a recruitable SpotPass character.
