- Sly and Bentley gained the ability to crawl in Sly 2, though Bentley lost the ability after his accident. Sly kept the ability and uses it in all following games. It is used to squeeze through tight spaces, allowing escape or access to otherwise unreachable areas, often both. Crawling was first used in the mission "Breaking and Entering" in The Black Chateau (unless used prior in free-roaming), first by crawling underneath tables, and then through two air systems.

One also featured on the cover of Issue 11, another as a pin-up in Issue 94 and a final one was already defeated by the time it was seen in The Seven Badniks. The only Crawl to ever see any action was in Enter the Cybernik, but was destroyed by Shortfuse the Cybernik before it could do any damage. Crawls originally appeared in the Casino Night Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the Mega Drive.
