Lord Tirek is the sixth main villain of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and easily one of the most dangerous. Tirek is a centaur from a land far away from Equestria and possesses the ability to steal the magic of other beings. Returning from a long exile in Tartarus, he sets forth to absorb all magic in Equestria, which he failed to do a millennia prior. Early on, he enlists help from Discord, who was initially sent to stop him, playing on the Draconequus' hubris in order to win him over. Knowing loyalty only to himself, Tirek is quick to betray Discord after regaining enough of his strength, eventually stealing even Equestria's Alicorn magic. However, shortly after achieving his goal, he is stopped and imprisoned once more by the newly released Rainbow Power.

Lord Tirek (or Mumm-ra plagiarism) is a sick Centaur and one of the main villains of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. He is suffering from a disorder that urges him to kill ponies virgins who contradict him. He is also the main demon in charge of send the souls of all the dead people to Hell. Though he sometimes has to send his own soul when he is killed too. Tirek shares his name and certain aspects of his design with a Generation 1 villain from the animated television special Rescue at Midnight Castle; he was redesigned by Jeremy Tin for the current Generation 4. He is a centaur with red skin, white hair, dark fur, black horns, and cloven hooves. His head has bull-like facial features with a goat-like beard. DHX Media designer Phil Caesar strove to make Tirek "as scary as [he] can", receiving input from his 10-year-old daughter on whether each design was "too scary" or "not scary enough". According to Hasbro developer Brian Lenard, Tirek was originally designed with an "almost entirely red" body, but was recolored with a black torso to "tone down the intensity" and give more focus to the expressions of Tirek's face and arms.
