On November 29, 2666, Turnbull was defeated by a slim margin for the leadership of the Baltusian Labour Party. However, just ten months later, he was elected. On February 1, 2669, Turnbull ran for Praetor. He came in third place with 24.83%. On the second ballot, Turnbull put the party's endorsement in favor of the Baltusian Pantian Alliance. The BPA won with a slim majority. The party also gained a Senate seat. It was his wife, Lucy Lansbury-Turnbull who was elected to the Senate in a tight race. Lansbury-Turnbull won by only 24 votes. On April 20, 2669, Turnbull announced his intention to resign as leader following a leadership election. However, he did not officially leave the leadership until a new leader was elected on January 1, 2670.
